Drop 5 pounds in a week for D-DAY!

During the holiday season, I have been caught in situations that needs to prepare for; aside from the non-stop indulging of great food, it was the big day on meeting the parents which requires every person an instant self-esteem booster to not feel frumpy. I mindfully wrestled with my appetite and cravings, gone through the right motivation to not over splurge and yet still prepare not to look bloated with hamster cheeks by the big day.

No deprivation, bizarre supplements or food meal replacements required.

Let me share to you few tips that worked pretty much well if you’ve got a week, just 7 days to prepare before the big hot date – whether it’s a photo shoot, meeting the parents, a huge date or a big presentation.

1. Cut out the dairy and the red meat

Dairy tends to retain water and gas forming. Heavy red meats takes 48 – 75 hours before it digests.

2. No Starchy Carbohydrates after 4pm

If you need a replacement for rice, you can have the only grain filled with protein,Quinoa! Replace your dinner with all vegetables; complex carbs will make you feel fuller – longer.

3. Stay away from Sodium (Soy sauce, processed food)

We don’t want water retention, right? Pass that sushi date for now and say NO to Junk food!

4. Exercise at least 30 minutes everyday and before you attend the big date

Sweat toxins out of your body, relax and have instant happy hormones plus that natural rosy cheeks!

5. Gulp on water, lots of it

According to Cosmopolitan: Water, on the other hand, has zero calories and carbs and little to no sodium, making it the perfect slim-down drink. And strangely, it actually helps flush out excess water weight as well as jump-starts your metabolism. If it’s just too boring, add lemon wedges or mint leaves. I personally add lemon wedges on my water.

6. Sleep 8 hours for that instant glow.

Because it’s true, aside from rejuvenating from a day’s work; recover, let your body build muscle while you snooze, getting zzz’s equals better muscle tone

7. Stand/Sit up straight. Engage your core.

These tips can actually work to jump start that lifestyle change. Although I am not the scale kind of girl who’d check it through every now and then, please be reminded that these 5 lbs are just water weight to get yourself out from the hamster well-fed look on your cheeks and that bloated feeling on your tight jeans or pretty dress.

Yes, I survived the big day and got out of it alive with a huge smile on my face.
