Manila, Philippines – October 10, 2010 marked a milestone to filipinos, runners and environmentalists alike. 101010 Run for Pasig River which was held from different starting points conjoining to Mall of Asia Grounds from different distances has gathered to run for the advocacy.
116,086 filipinos ran for Pasig river.
This morning the certificate arrived at ABS CBN which states that The Guinness book of records has just marked 101010 Run for Pasig river as the largest racing event in the whole world. It has now overtaken the record by San Francisco’s “Bay to Breakers” race in 1988.
Thank you @monchetty and @dyancastillejo for breaking in the GREAT news not only to us runners but to the entire Filipino Nation.
CONGRATULATIONS! WE MADE IT!
I am PROUD to be one of those who witnessed the organization and planning of this event albeit I wasn’t able to stick around until the execution of the event; I’m PROUD that I have ran the distance and poured my support to save our Pasig river.
This run made me train for marathons. What seemed to be my first half-marathon (they removed the half-marathon mark and gave that distance to the PNP instead) has evolved me running to marathons and inspired me to run for causes.
I won’t be surprised if one day ladies will be wearing those hanging shirts again, men will be sporting those “rave” looking tight-fitted shirts plus those skinny jeans! errr.. maybe, not.
This is the first step to the goal. Let’s help clean up Pasig river, hopefully in 5 years it’ll be pristine clean like yesterday – more than a captivating scenery.
CONGRATULATIONS ABS-CBN, Mrs. Evelyn Forbes, GBA Events Asia, exTribe, RunRio, JC Valenzuela and the rest of the entire team who made this prestigious event happen. Kudos!
